Djoub1971 Dragon Age: The Veilguard Review
Mar 15, 2026
Very mediocre game. The comments about the game being saturated with current progressive themes are accurate, unfortunately. Apparently EA and Bioware decided to join the woke bandwagon, but all this did was to reveal their cluelessness about the basic psychology of the RPG player. They don't seem to get that modern culture wars and identity politics don't translate well to a mythical universe that should be unique and different. Many RPG players want an immersive, narrative-rich experience into a world that has its own set of politics, characters, factions, etc. They want to get away from our set of politics, divisions, etc. They don't need to be constantly reminded of them, at every turn. So that's one thing.
Another problem is that many aspects of the game are clearly, and fatally, sub-par. Yes, some of the landscapes are nice but they look like they belong to another game, more like Kingdoms of Amalur than Origins. There is no dark fantasy element left. Character faces and animations are terrible, on par with Andromeda. Have EA and Bioware learnt nothing from that disaster? The dialogues are incredibly Disney-like, something out of cheap, dime store self-help therapy books. Or from Oprah... The game has clearly been written for middle school kids, not adults. Some of the dialogues and cutscenes were so cringe I had to skip them entirely. And oh yes, there is the typical Disney sidekick, a griffon that enjoys truffles but seemingly never eats any meat. You get the idea.
Shame on you EA and Bioware for utterly destroying a beloved franchise.
