DLCwolf Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery Review

May 18, 2025
Behind the Frame is a beautiful, nostalgic, and melancholic story, lasting about two and a half hours. A romantic tale with a bittersweet flavor, it speaks of a love that blossomed but never fully came to be—suspended in time, caught between nostalgia and regret for what could have been, if only it had continued. It’s a delicate narrative, painted in pastel tones, immersed in the youth and carefree spirit of two young artists. Everything is sweetened by the presence of a mischievous and charming cat, as you complete paintings with vibrant colors, often depicting breezy landscapes or rainy days. The game is a well-balanced blend of emotion and style, crafted with attention to detail and the art of subtlety. Like all great stories, it suggests more than it tells, leaving space for the player's imagination. Certain elements are deliberately left unsaid, inviting the player to fill in the narrative gaps with their own sensitivity. Perhaps the most beautiful love stories are the ones that never go beyond the beginning: that remain in the early stages of discovery and passion, lived in the enchantment of youth and the flutter of first emotions. These stories continue to live on through the hopeful imagination of what they could have become—if everything had gone just the way we wished, or even better. A utopian love, existing purely in the hope of a world that never was. The gameplay is simple and never burdens the narrative; it adds just the right interactive touch to gently move the story forward. I highly recommend it, also because of its short duration, which makes it an intense experience—perfect for a rainy weekend.
