Duke Mancannon Control Resonant Review
Oct 6, 2026
Absolute garbage for gamer-chuds who love awful dongshit.
So, it is a visually impressive game buried beneath awful combat, pretentious level design, and an exhausting need to constantly remind the player how strange and clever it thinks it is. The combat initially looks spectacular, with debris flying everywhere and abilities similar to the first , but underneath the effects is a shallow, repetitive loop of fighting similar enemies in similar encounters using the same handful of effective tactics.
The environments suffer from a similar problem: brutalist architecture and surreal spaces make for great screenshots, but actually navigating them quickly becomes confusing and tedious. There is a decent story buried somewhere underneath it all, but it is smothered by cryptic dialogue, lore dumps, vague exposition, and characters seemingly incapable of explaining anything normally.
Add uneven pacing, repetitive encounters, visual clutter, tedious exploration, and surrealism that increasingly feels like weirdness for the sake of weirdness, and Control Resonant becomes a perfect example of a game that can look fascinating, sound intelligent, and receive enormous critical praise while still being an absolute chore to actually play.
It simply is not fun. And the final act includes a mandatory 2+ hour section where it becomes a completely different “throwback” game that is so exceptionally stupid it’s hard to even comprehend.
If you like this game, you simply are an idiot who loves awful things.
