ElvenBenzene Hades Review

I genuinely do not see how this game won awards.
The combat in the game is passable. The core combat itself feels solid, but that's where the good parts of the game end. The weapons do not change your playstyle much, as for a successful run you will mostly be relying on dodge spamming, cast and boons. Once you have done 10 or so runs, you have pretty much seen everything the game has to offer from a mechanics perspective, yet the game "forces" you to die many more times just to follow a story that isn't even well written, following an obnoxious cast of characters that refuses to shut up.
I put "forces" in quotes, because technically you can beat the game in 1 run, if you are willing to sit there and do chip damage for countless hours to wear them down. This isn't much better than just forcing the player to die.
Hades overstays its welcome and forces the player to deal with it's shallow mechanics for way longer than any sane man should.
