ElvenBenzene Denshattack! Review

Aug 16, 2026
There's hardly a game here. It's all flashy colors with nothing underneath. I should have trusted my instinct and refunded it, but I decided to keep going. Big mistake. I think one of the biggest issues with Denshattack! is that it isn't anything. Is it a game that wants you to shoot for high scores? Maybe, but there's no online leaderboards, which should be the bare minimum for a game in which high scores are the only thing the game has to offer. Is it a game about mastery? Nope. There are no fail states, and the few levels where you can "fail", the minimum score threshold is so low that you are actively disincentivized from shooting for a massive combo, as the consequences of losing your string are higher than the reward of getting said string. The plot of the game is just a poorly written allegory for climate change and the dangers of AI. It also has little to no impact on the game itself, despite the game supposedly taking place in a post-apocalyptic dystopia, many of the levels don't look dystopian at all. The game would have been better off just having you beat rival gangs for the sake of it, none of the other stuff ends up doing anything for the game. This game could have, and should have been much more. Instead it robbed me of $20.
