enigmaWill Silent Hill f Review

Oct 6, 2025
Silent Hill f tells a memorable story that can stand tall next to the best in the genre, with the narrative following Hinako who is the victim of an arranged marriage that stands against her personal values and wishes as a young woman in 1960's rural Japan. The characters are well thawed out and all have a part to play in Hinako's journey, each providing a different angle to the situation we see unfolding on the screen over the tight 10 hour lucid nightmare. The only major downside to this game is its combat system. I haven't played any of the other Silent Hill games so I can't pretend to know what traditional Silent Hill looks like, but I can only say that I don't think it works well in this instalment. It is painfully repetitive towards the end of the game, leaving me to opt for running past enemies all together for the sake of the pacing of the story. The game does try to evolve the combat in some ways, which I give props for, but it contains the same formula which turns stale quickly. Overall, I loved my time with this game and I will be returning to it in the future. The world that has been built here is truly breath-taking and horrifying at the same time, pair that with a fantastic story and interesting characters and you've got a winner. With the only downside being stale combat (which I don't think is meant to be the point of this game) Silent Hill f deserves its flowers.
