Digimon Survive
Important premise: the following review is based on my personal experience. Everytime I write a review, I try to be as objective as possible, in order to not let my personal tastes taint the objective quality of the product.
Graphics
The graphics quality is good on the overall, albeit the level of care for details is slightly heterogeneous.
Score: 7- / 10
Narrative
Despite the incipit being very good, the narrative is unfortunately peppered with incoherences and several purely specious lengthinesses.
Score: 2- / 10
Gameplay
The software isn't well optimized: everytime a new area is loaded, the fps fluctuate for a few dozens of seconds before stabilizing. This happens on a machine that has a way more powerful hardware than the one recommended by the developers. During the fights, it's possible to let the artificial intelligence play in your place; howewer it doesn't use items or abilities that heal when needed, it doesn't evolve the digimons (unless a specific strategy is selected) and it often doesn't efficiently uses the resources. The difficulty level is, on the overall, coherent with its description. Often the software doens't correctly detect the position the cursor clicked at, resulting in selecting the option below the desired one. During the fights it's not possible to calibrate the camera rotation, which sometimes makes it difficult to see beyond some obstacles.
Score: 5 / 10
Sound
Good quality on the overall, with a convincing voice acting.
Score: 7+ / 10
Music
Good quality on the overall; the tracks are coherent with the circumstances they are played in.
Score: 7+ / 10
Overall
On the overall, I don't recommend this game because, despite the idea to keep the Digimon brand alive through a visual novel is indeed very good, the narrative of this game is seriously damaged by many incoherences and specious lengthinesses.
Score: 1.6 / 5
