GokartMozart Octopath Traveler II Review

Dec 31, 2025
This is JRPG comfort food. From the excellent orchestral score to the turn-based combat system, there’s a lot to love here for fans of the genre. The main criticism I have is that the party characters don’t feel involved in each other’s quests since they’re not included in quest-related cut scenes or dialogues. This is a symptom of the game’s freeform opening in which you can grab the characters in any order, so the developer doesn’t know which characters will be with your party whenever you hit certain cutscenes. A more unified main quest may have been the solution here, but the game is still fun to play despite this disconnect in the story.
