Goric DeadCore Review
Oct 24, 2026
Another fictionalized dreamland. This one drenched in neon lights and strange geometry and machinery. A type of phantasmagoria located at undisclosed location, time and space. Game by French developer 5Bits Games. Original game name: Deadlock.
As the story unfolds things become clearly. There is backstory to this. Interesting one.
- You control some kind of drone with a time-gun of sorts, with running time on it. Then there is Logs. In logs is where your goals and achievements are described.
- You're clearly control some kind of droid, due to hardware sounds of afford.
- The main challenge in this game comes from operating time-gun while traversing shifting environments. If you are dysproxic or light-sensitive, this maybe not for you.
- However, there are polite save spots.. (as of this writing) BEFORE the challenge commences. Bash that button R for respawn.
Mechanics
- there is double-jump (the usual)
- there's zoom on a gun (quite useless)
- and you sticking to the walls in a way that makes it easier to traverse the domain of whatever that is. (wall-gliding/wall-jump possible to a degree)
- in mid-air you DO have reasonable control of the char
- there is no fall damage, but there is off-structure death fall =)
+ There are very clear Tron vibes, which is good and its a good style. No future or the past, just something different.
+ Mechanics work, interesting premise, I recommend this game for anyone who whants to just 'switch off' or need some inspiration going.
The geometry of the whole thing is busy enough, but there are sideways to traverse it - player is not bound to follow strictly the logical path, in fact exploration is encouraged, most certainly.
The run is divided by Cycles and a ticking watch on the gun simply says "I'm designed for speedruns" And indeed it is. There are plenty of rooms to proxy the main path, have that in mind.
Oh btw, there is manual sketches for the scenes in game, by the dev I found appealing. It's in Logs section of the UI.
---
Originality: plausible and interesting
Atmosphere: deep
Mechanics: execution is good, it's just jumping game.
