Hoxilp2 Pragmata Review
Apr 20, 2026
-- Gameplay
Pragmata delivers a very engaging gameplay experience, mainly thanks to its hacking system. Combat is built around hacking enemies to make them vulnerable before dealing damage with your weapons.
What makes this system stand out is that time does not stop while hacking. Enemies continue attacking, and the environment remains active, forcing you to stay aware of everything happening around you while solving the hacking panel as quickly as possible.
The more nodes you connect during hacking, the longer enemies remain vulnerable. As the game progresses, these hacking sequences become more complex, keeping the challenge fresh without feeling repetitive. Even when patterns start to become familiar, the variety of scenarios and constant pressure prevent the system from becoming stale.
Outside of hacking, the game includes standard actions such as running, jumping, and dodging. You can also use a variety of weapons to deal damage once enemies are exposed. In some cases, you can execute weakened enemies or perform stronger attacks by breaking their posture.
The hacking panel also allows you to apply status effects like defense reduction, overheating, or paralysis, which are very useful for maximizing damage.
-- Progression and Systems
The game follows a mostly linear structure, but you can revisit previously explored areas to collect upgrades and collectibles.
The map is somewhat limited in functionality. It can be viewed from the pause menu, but it does not allow zooming, and there is no minimap. However, due to the linear design, this rarely becomes an issue unless you are specifically searching for collectibles.
You have access to healing items that recharge at base or can occasionally be found during exploration.
Weapons are divided into categories. Your primary weapon regenerates ammunition over time, while secondary weapons (offensive, support, or distraction types) are consumed once their ammo runs out. Fortunately, the game provides a steady supply of weapons throughout the adventure.
At the base, you can craft upgrades, hacking tools, and weapon improvements. There are also additional features such as a training area, customization options, collectible logs, and even small activities like bingo.
-- Difficulty
The game includes two base difficulty settings and one unlockable option. On normal difficulty, the experience feels well balanced, offering a fair challenge without becoming overwhelming.
-- Enemies and Bosses
Enemy variety is strong, with different attack patterns that keep encounters interesting. Boss fights stand out as highlights, providing the main challenge in each area.
-- Audio and Visuals
Cinematics are very well produced and visually impressive. The overall art direction is strong, supported by high-quality graphics.
The soundtrack is well placed and enhances key moments without being overused. Sound effects are also well executed, contributing to immersion during both exploration and combat.
-- Story
The story is good, but its pacing feels a bit rushed at times. The game clearly aims to build an emotional connection with Diana, but some moments feel slightly forced, making it harder to fully connect with her character.
-- Length
The main story lasts around 10 hours, including some repeated sections. Additional content such as collectibles, challenges, and extra modes can extend the playtime.
-- Final Thoughts
Pragmata is an excellent action-adventure third-person shooter that successfully integrates a unique hacking system into its core gameplay loop.
With engaging combat, strong presentation, and a fair level of challenge, it manages to keep your attention throughout the entire experience. While the story pacing could be improved, it remains a very enjoyable and well-rounded game.
