Hyde Final Fantasy XIII Review
Jul 28, 2026
The games is still gorgeous many years after release. The combat is interesting in that you feel more like you're managing the party in real time, rather than control them directly, but the fights are dynamic and presented in a rather spectacular fashion. However, the plot is convoluted to the point of being barely compressible, the world feels completely lifeless, and the structure of the game is almost entirely comprised of narrow, linear corridors. This does make the pacing much more brisk than in your usual jRPG, but leaves no room for the plot or the characters to breathe.
