isocano Split Fiction Review

All of Josef Fares’ games are incredibly fun and essential for fans of co-op gameplay. If you enjoyed A Way Out or It Takes Two, you’ll find a lot of the same charm here. The structure is very similar to It Takes Two, with a fast-paced flow of new environments and mechanics. The main difference lies in the difficulty, which is slightly higher—something seasoned players will appreciate, though it might be a bit tough if your partner isn't as experienced. The story and writing are solid—not amazing, but they don’t detract from the experience either. It’s on par with a typical popcorn movie. I actually preferred the main characters over the couple in It Takes Two, though none come close to the charisma of Fares’ iconic talking book. Collaboration! The best thing is the overall variety. There are brief moments with fun, playable characters and creative settings that always add something positive to the experience. It might not be Josef’s best work, but it’s pretty close. Can’t wait for his next game to drop.
