Jepega Hollow Knight: Silksong Review

Sep 9, 2025
Honestly, I was expecting something impressive after all the hype and rave reviews. But after playing, it feels like the devs spent 7 years doing nothing but making the clunkiest keyboard controls ever. This game isn’t challenging, it’s just poorly designed. The combat, which sends you back to the last save after every encounter, kills the flow and any sense of fun. Fans will say: “It’s made for a controller, it’s your fault if it feels awkward.” But am I missing something? The game officially supports keyboard, nobody forbids it. So why should I have to buy extra hardware just to play a mid-tier indie platformer? Repeating the same area after every death is exhausting. Is wasting free time on a game (that won’t even come close to Game of the Year) really worth it? In the end, it’s just a dull, clunky platformer - and the market is already full of those. I’ve heard fans of the first game say it was the best in its genre. But after seeing this sequel, which should have improved everything, I wonder if they exaggerated, or if the genre itself is just weak. Still, I’m not going to completely bash the game - clearly many players enjoyed it. And to be fair, the spider girl design is really cute and beautiful. So instead of the 2.5/5 it probably deserves, I’ll be nice and give it a 3/5
