Jimmykiller456 SteamWorld Dig Review

Let's talk about this game. This was a fun and amazing game to play on the Steam Deck, so these are my thoughts on the game specifically from that portable experience. The game ran with no issues whatsoever, and I often played it docked on my TV. The performance was excellent. Thanks to the Steam Deck, I was able to optimize the CPU TDP and GPU to consistently get 5+ hours of gameplay on the Deck's battery when on the go. Speaking of the game itself, the gameplay is very simple but incredibly fun. The story is simple, too, but it’s interesting enough to keep your attention. I'll definitely say this kind of game gives me more dopamine hits than most others. I love that it’s all about digging down and slowly progressing through the story. The core loop has you digging, finding gems, returning to the surface to sell your haul, and then using that money to level up and get upgrades for all your tools and equipment. The game's difficulty isn't too hard, and most of the time, your deaths will be due to miscalculations, like having a rock crush you or landing on top of an enemy. For me, my deaths were due to not keeping an eye on my health bar and always running it low. Maybe that's how the game gets you—you get complacent because the difficulty isn't brutal, and then boom, you make a silly mistake. Overall, this game was fun, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it, and I'd recommend it to all gamers. It should be bought full price or on sale. SteamWorld Dig is a game that will definitely have you fuming for more!
