John Stephens Honkai: Star Rail Review

Aug 27, 2026
Calling this game "free-to-play" is the biggest joke of the century—sure, the download button costs nothing, but the actual experience is locked behind an absurd, wallet-draining wall designed to bait you into spending the second you hit a progression wall. The devs created a glorified digital casino wrapped in anime graphics where the drop rates are artificially tanked, forcing you to either hit hard pity or grind for weeks just to get a single 10-pull full of useless 3-star junk. Upgrading characters, getting light cones, and pulling on banners are all aggressively monetized, and the stingy rewards for finishing events or daily tasks are a complete insult to the player base. Do not let the "free" label fool you; the game respects neither your time nor your money, treats players like walking ATMs, and stands as an absolute garbage-tier cash grab.
