Johnknight1 Halo Infinite Review

Feb 6, 2026
This game is so difficult to review. I absolutely love the gunplay, movement and physics; it is the best Halo has felt, and probably the most I have enjoyed a first person shooter in that aspect. The campaign open world has so many cool nooks and crannies, and is so fun to interact with. The game also looks really good, and has so many good quality of life changes. The addition of things like the grappling hook feel so good. That said, this game feels like missed opportunity. The campaign has good story moments, yet lacks cohesion. The world is fun, yet feels plastic after a while, lacks reasons to come back to it, and never delivered upon the promised co-op. The multiplayer has tons of modes, yet it always feels a few steps behind where it should be with gun selection, new vehicle options, map amount and cohesion. The lack of dual wielding, a staple since Halo 2, feels notable, and that hurts the twitchy yet controlled feel this game should have. Overall I love playing Halo Infinite, and I frequently come back to it and have more fun than the last time as content is added. At the same time, I always feel like it should have been so much more. Halo Infinite is a few small things and three big things (dual wielding and campaign shortcomings) from realizing that potential. Sometimes that feels worse than if the game was bad, because if we got that realized version of Halo Infinite, it would probably be one of my favorite games of all-time. As the game is free-to-play, I recommend it to everyone to try out the multiplayer. The multiplayer is phenomenal with minimal shortcomings in 2026. For the campaign, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys first person shooter campaigns or enjoys the multiplayer and wants a standalone experience.
