KaijuKaiser Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Review

Fun gameplay but the story is very weak compared to Remake. There are so many times in this game that minigames get in the way of telling the story. For example, there's one part where you finally find the people you've been chasing only to ignore them and play another minigame. It's just too much and they should have focused on the quality of these over quantity. Another big issue is the blurry visuals and jankiness of traversal. You can't jump and your chocobo is constantly getting stuck on things. Last complaint is Chadley and VR. There is just an absurd reliance on that VR mode. Remember how in the OG you could find enemy skills in the open world? This incentivized exploration. Now you just get them in the VR mode as a reward. I will say that the production is off the charts and the characters are perfectly voiced. Overall it was the biggest disappoint for me in 2024.
