Kioto The Alters Review

Mar 19, 2026
A game with a perfect philosophical storyline, but not perfect gameplay. There were a lot of visual glitches, I sometimes got stuck in textures, and the official Ukrainian translation wasn’t very good even nearly a year after the game’s release. The story really hits home, and I’ll remember its philosophical meaning for a long time. Also, the scripts are very restrictive, just like in other games from 11 bit studios - if I unlocked in Act 3 what I was supposed to unlock in Act 2, I can no longer complete that task, and it was the only one left for a perfect run, but because of the restrictions, I don’t want to replay the game. I definitely don’t regret playing this game, but I understand that the gameplay can be very stifling for some, and it’s a good thing that on medium difficulty, there was almost no grinding for me.
