Knaito Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Review
Feb 2, 2026
It's just okay...
Final Fantasy VII Remake is the definition of "all dressed up with nowhere to go." While the game successfully modernizes the look and feel of Cloud Strife’s world, it fails the most important test of any RPG: the sense of discovery. For a game that spends 40 hours in a single city, it is remarkably uninterested in letting the player actually see that city.
The combat is flashy and the character chemistry is great, but the world-building feels hollow. It feels like Square Enix was so focused on the cinematic "moments" that they forgot to build a cohesive world for the player to inhabit. It’s a game that promises a sprawling urban epic but delivers a guided tour of the city’s maintenance corridors. It’s not a bad game, but it’s an incredibly stifling one.
