Koiut Road 96 Review

Road 96 is a surprising discovery that manages to transcend the codes of the classic narrative game. This narrative roguelike offers an intriguing approach: instead of simply progressing toward the end of a story, you fully experience the journey itself. The universe is simple but controlled, immersing us in a dictatorship where we try to flee toward freedom by reaching the border. The little scenes we go through are never gratuitous: they integrate naturally and make complete sense depending on the choices and directions taken previously. This procedural generation creates unique paths with each run. Unlike traditional narrative games where I sought to reach the conclusion, Road 96 made me live the journey rather than the destination. I always played to move forward and discover the end of a story, but here, I truly lived the journey, and it was... soothing. We progressively discover the recurring characters over the episodes, and each interaction reveals new facets of their story. PS: The music is really good
