Kolossoni Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. Review

Mar 1, 2025
Virtua Fighter 5: R.E.V.O. is a solid 3D fighting game, a nice throwback to the earlier styles of grounded martial arts before all the devil genes, super powers, and laser beams came around. This series introduced the first ever combo extension system, the "Bound" system that we're all so familiar with thanks to games such as Tekken incorporating it later. Suffice to say, this series is revolutionary. Thankfully, VF5: R.E.V.O. has retained much of the series' core fundamentals, allowing newcomers to learn about poking, sidestepping, parrying, and positioning better than most games in the genre. The only constructive criticism I can give is the "lack" of everything. Lack of customization, lack of tutorial, lack of single player content, etc. However, with constant updates and added substance, I believe this game could become the side-game to Tekken we all craved.
