Kron Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Review

Excellent french made (J)RPG which captures the epicness of JRPGs mixed with the whimsy and the sometimes frankly bizarre sense of humour of french people (admittedly, I am also French and I loved it). Gameplay is great. Turn based with some reflex based QTE (they aren't easy, and are intense enough to really elevate an otherwise good but not groundbreaking combat system). The story is mostly excellent. The ending was a bit disappointing but otherwise the story was excellent, with good pacing, good balance between cutscene and gameplay. The music is fantastic. The visuals are great, except maybe the character models which seem a bit rigid in cutscenes. Aside from the ending, one single criticism I have is that towards the end, the game opens up a bit too much. It allows the player to get very powerful, to the point of trivializing the final sequence and last few big fights (I ended one hitting everything...) Would absolutely recommend to any gamer, not limited to RPG enjoyer. Also it's relatively cheap.
