Kynes Resident Evil Requiem Review

Started Requiem back on launch and had a blast with it, but then took some time off before coming back for the platinum trophy. This is a really, really fun game. Definitely scratches the horror itch in the first half while giving some satisfying gunplay in the second half. Pros: - Very tight horror segment to open the game which does a great job of making the player feel powerless. - Fantastic audio design - Beautiful presentation, ran very smoothly on max settings with path tracing on an RTX 4080. Cons: - While the combat in the back half of the game is very engaging, the level design is not. The area is bland, and while there's a story reason it's still not enjoyable to look at. - The plot can be a bit nonsensical at times (this is a Resident Evil game, we all knew what we were getting). Definitely a strong recommend if you are a fan of the series; some really great call backs to classics. It's also a really good pickup if you're looking to get into Resident Evil, but I'd still recommend playing 4 first.
