LeChudChud Marvel's Wolverine Review

Sep 19, 2026
It’s not Insomniac games magnum opus by any means, but it is certainly not as bad as the early reviews, and social media comment sections echo chamber it is. The story isn’t super engaging at all times, but, it does pick up in the middle section, pretty much all the way through to the end. The combat is far more layered than some reviewers and people have claimed, it also exceptionally brutal. The three tier rage system honestly flows very well with the pace of the combat in this game, and really adds some weight to the combat. There is plenty of execution animation variations, team up execution animations, and combos to mix and match with each other to make something that looks cool but still feels like Wolverine. The boss fights were exceptional in this game and were a genuine challenge, as well as the rest of the combat in this game. Even against regular enemies. You need to be on point with your parrying, dodges because on higher difficulties you will die rather quick. The lack of handholding in the combat of the game does kinda highlight the general handholding this game has for traversal of some environments. But it is not an every second of the game type of deal. And is not as overbearing and egregious as people have made it out to sound. All in all, Insomniac made a solid game with some rough edges for sure, but solid nonetheless. This game knows what it’s trying to be and doesn’t stray away from that.
