LeeberJM Blue Prince Review

Jul 30, 2025
It's always refreshing when a game comes along and shakes things up within its genre, and Blue Prince comes close to doing that for the roguelite formula. Unfortunately, its potential is held back by some all-too-obvious limitations that prevent it from having a more lasting impact. The blend of exploration—centered around building a house’s floor plan—and roguelite mechanics works well, but the inclusion of puzzles doesn’t quite hit the mark, especially since there are only two puzzle room types, which feels far too limited. On top of that, the genre’s inherent RNG instantly kills much of the potential fun. The sheer range of time it takes players to reach the first ending is wildly inconsistent, which speaks to a lack of balance in the game’s design. Good job overall, but, next time will be better, I guess.
