LethalBrizzleGaming Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Review

Aug 20, 2026
When I first started Expedition 33, I was enjoying it, but struggling to see just what it was that was garnering such elevated levels of hype. Now? Yeah, I get it. A masterpiece in storytelling, character writing, art design, music and combat, it's surreal that it's @sandfallgames first rodeo and with such a small team at that. Captivating characters are brought to life through a star studded cast who deliver enchanting performances, adding to the mesmerising art style and impeccable writing making this world a joy to be in. @lorien_testard has exploded onto the scene with a score worthy of the absolute best in the genre, found on SoundCloud, it's mind-blowing what he's put together, rivaling the most epic of Final Fantasy soundtracks. One that will be forever stuck in my head. I'll admit, the story took a while to grip me, and it wasn't until the end of Act 1 that I was truly in the writers vice. However once I was, I never left. Naturally no spoilers, but twists, turns and morale ambiguity that have you questioning things until the very end keep you engaged throughout, accumulating in a blockbuster payoff in the end. Turn based combat has always been my jam, but Sandfall's take on the traditional style, adding real-time parrying and dodging takes it to another level, meaning most importantly, the actual act of playing the game was fun throughout.
