LordMassimo Doom: The Dark Ages Review

The game delivers unimaginable action—utterly ferocious and overwhelming. When you're in the Slayer's body, you feel like a full-blown hurricane that nothing can stop. Especially once you learn to use the shield and weapons as a unified system, you truly become unstoppable. That said, I did feel at times (while playing on Nightmare mode) that there could have been more elite enemies attacking simultaneously to heighten the sense of danger—especially considering the immense power and destruction you wield as the Slayer. The soundtrack? Brilliant! That heavy metal really pushes your heart rate to the limit and makes you feel like an unstoppable tank. I understand it's not Mick Gordon, but since it has its own identity, it doesn’t need to be. My only minor critique is that sometimes I wish the music were more dominant—especially when extreme elite enemies appear. Lastly, I must say that Doom Eternal felt more frenetic and overall more extreme in terms of difficulty (also played on Nightmare). That could be addressed here by adding more elite enemies at once. Perhaps the Master Levels will change my perception. Truly an incredible game. 4.5 stars.
