Mace007 Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Review

Jun 27, 2025
Great first impression, but totally overstayed its welcome. The game structure is 3 large open areas, which I don’t want to spoil with a handful of smaller levels serving as a bridge for the location. In the first area, I was blown away by the presentation, fun simple melee combat with some light stealth mechanics, and mysteries/puzzles mixed in. The first 10 hours of this game is an absolute jewel, and I cherished it. In the second large area, I was still enjoying it, but I noticed I found finding all the collectibles, photos, and books required to upgrade your character tedious and time consuming. Again, doing this section thoroughly took another ~10 hours Then, the third large map area came. I genuinely was totally apathetic about the secondary characters. The game was leaning more into its gunfights which are surprisingly bad for Machine Games, a company which rebooted Wolfenstein. The enemies were spongy at times and there’s a total lack of blood which hurt the sense of impact. The cut scenes started to seem too numerous and repeating the same plot points over and over again. They started to repeat puzzle elements. I really struggled to finish this game. I’d recommend playing the first act and setting the game down. You’re not missing anything by skipping act 2 & 3.
