Setting aside the story and premise, most games that require more than 80 or 100 hours of play aren’t nearly as fun to play over and over again—their combat is very basic— but what makes it special is that it features so many elements that are different from the norm, making it incredibly entertaining. The difficulty feels high—not so much that it’s “tryhard,” but it offers that level of challenge that’s tough yet not impossible—and that makes you want to keep getting better and better. Plus, having a whole year (in-game time) to spend time with friends, build bonds, and develop romantic relationships is something I never imagined seeing in a game—that system is fantastic. Having to think about and plan what to do each day to manage your time well It’s fantastic. Also worth highlighting are the interfaces, which feel so good—they’re so smooth that even switching weapons in the game feels satisfying. And then there’s the wonderful soundtrack—it’s one of the best in the gaming world, if not the very best. Whether it’s a battle, a “Mementos” sequence, or even moments with your confidants, the background music makes you want to put down your controller or keyboard just to appreciate the song playing in the background.
The story is also something that keeps surprising you more and more—it goes from being fairly straightforward to leaving you completely hooked just to uncover the events that aren’t “so obvious,” and you can even learn things that aren’t necessarily useful in everyday life but definitely expand your general knowledge. It’s simply a perfect game; the worst part is when you finish it. I play it on my computer (PC/Steam).
