Mechadeuce Afterimage Review
Feb 8, 2026
One of the most beautiful and expansive games in the Metroidvania genre, featuring tight controls, amazing enemy variety, great game balance/difficulty progression, a wonderful soundtrack, and an intriguing story and setting.
The formula leans more towards a Koji Igarashi-style Castlevania than it does Metroid, and with just a dash of Souls-like (the save points functioning similarly to bonfires or sites of grace.)
Overall, it's one of the best games in the genre and I cannot recommend it enough.
