MegabrainX God of War Review

Jan 1, 2026
The game initially did not resonate with me. I felt Kratos was too squishy for being the deity of war. I died a good 3 times in the training area and this frustration carried to the elf realm. I had to lower the difficulty to actually have an experience that matched the story. Once I had lowered the difficulty, I actually started having fun. It was weird, I have played hard games before (bloodborne, hollow knight, cuphead) but the difficulty of the game did not match the story it presented. I guess that is why I did not felt compelled in getting better at this game and just opted for lowering the difficulty. It was then that I could actually enjoy the story of the game. Which I really enjoyed! The game posed the question: How does an emotionally detach character, whose previous entries were about glorified violence and fornication, connect with their young son? This was a compelling narrative that made me want to continue playing. I wanted to know if Kratos will be able to overcome his past and connect with his son in a human level. I was not disappointed.
