Mufaso26 Assassin's Creed Valhalla Review
Feb 16, 2026
This review is one with a bias towards the first games of the franchise. Having played all the games from the first, all the way to Unity and years later Syndicate, my personal feelings get in the way of giving this game a fair chance.
I loved the Desmond story arc, even Black Flag and around Unity I did start to lose interest in the franchise. Back then I already felt like many elements that made the AC games so special were stripped one by one in favour of a new direction that just didn't feel right with the series.
Now, I have very little experience with Origins, Odysee, Mirage and Shadows. I bought this game back in 2022 due to a Fortnite collaboration that awarded players with the Ezio skin from AC2. I dished out 30$ only for the skin to be then released in the item shop a week later for 10.
But that is years past now. I have calmed down.
The game absolutely sucks. This is the first time I really have nothing to say about a game, it makes me feel empty, it's all flash and no substance. In a lot of areas it even looks worse than some of the older games, how does that even happen in the first place?
The climbing feels unresponsive in comparison to older games as well. Yeah, they did add more surfaces you can climb but I have had an aneurysm trying to make some regular climbs, especially on sync points.
I really despise what this game has done. I don't recommend it to anyone.
