Today’s Dead by Daylight developer update from BHVR is the first of 2025, and we’re ringing in the new year with a couple of new features players are sure to appreciate. Freddy Krueger fans will also be pleased by today’s update, includes a major rework for The Nightmare. The new features include a change to the repeat map prevention system that will now include Realms, an improvement to the Deep Wound player feedback on the HUD, and the introduction of free character trials during events.
The Freddy rework has some wild stuff in it. You’ll be able to place both Dream Snares and Dream Pallets (the blood pools and the fake pallets) in the same trial, swapping between placement options at will. Dream Snares also now move at a whopping 12 meters per second (or about three times as fast as a Survivor runs) — it’s not clear how this will work exactly, but it sounds very scary. Dream Pallets can be exploded on command, injuring Sleeping Survivors and making Awake Survivors sleepier. There’s even more to the rework, which you can read about below.
