Extremely OK Games has announced the cancelation of its hotly anticipated title, Earthblade. The Celeste studio first announced the game back in 2021, but several years, delays, and in-house issues later, it has made the sad decision to pull the plug on the project before it could see the light of day. Fans who were looking forward to Earthblade will have to wait and see what comes next for Extremely OK.
The team at Extremely OK had originally planned to finish work on Earthblade by the end of 2022, with eyes on a 2023 launch date. Over the course of the game's development, its creators let fans know about ongoing issues within the studio about their workload and technical roadblocks, but people largely responded positively to the news. Unfortunately, the problems have ultimately resulted in the game's cancelation.
Five years after its release, Celeste's monumental impact on the games industry can still be felt, and this will likely continue into the future.
