Kingdom Hearts as a whole is something both incredibly special…and yet uniquely frustrating. When it started out on the PS2, it was this clever mash of Disney and Square Enix worlds that boggled the mind with its combination of great narrative and fun gameplay. As the entries went on, things got deeper, wilder, more powerful, and…more convoluted. Like, seriously, it’s a lot. Another frustrating element is that there have been LONG delays between certain titles, and that includes the ever-growing wait for Kingdom Hearts 4. The game was confirmed years back, but Square Enix has been silent about it pretty much ever since.
Thankfully, things finally took a turn when Square Enix revealed its plans for the future, which included dropping a plethora of screenshots for Kingdom Hearts 4, which you can see below:
There’s plenty to unpack here, including new shots of Sora, the combat, the return of Strelitzia from one of the spinoff games, the reveal that King Mickey will be a full-on playable character in the game, and more!
Sadly, the team doesn’t have a release window for us, so we’ll just have to roll with it until they’re done, whenever that may be....
