The Sims 4 has added one of the most delightful new life states to the game in Enchanted by Nature, the newest expansion pack. While this pack brings all the charming elements one would expect from fairies, including custom wings, magical forests, and cozy natural builds, players are also discovering a darker side to the fairies in their own homes.
In the Summerdream home, a premade household with a couple and their daughter in Innisgreen, user Lingx_Cats discovered an unsettling detail in the basement: an actual dungeon. Though they asked “Why do the Summerdreams have a DUNGEON in their basement????”, it’s pretty clear from the small cells and heavy doors that this dungeon is meant for human prisoners.
While the choice to add a literal dungeon into the basement of what comes across as a kind fairy home may seem out of left field, The Sims 4 simply embraces every part of the traditional fairy. As user LadyTalah pointed out, “Fairies aren't all fun and games, ya know.” In folklore, fairies are often malicious tricksters, unlike their more palatable Disney-like representations.
