As announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday, Game Science's Black Myth: Zhong Kui is the next entry in the beloved Soulslike RPG series inspired by Chinese folklore. It was the last announcement of the show, and it makes sense to be Geoff Keighley's one last thing, as Black Myth: Wukong was a Game of the Year nominee at The Game Awards in 2024.

A New Tale in the Series

GameScience has revealed that the game "will centre on the fascinating tales of the Eastern immortal Zhong Kui and his marvelous quest to banish evil." This game is based on the "Zhong Kui Banishing Evil" Chinese folklore tale. It will once again be a single-player experience with action-RPG mechanics. It will also be built using Unreal Engine 5, like its predecessor.

No release date has been given yet, as this has only been teased. Further details will be coming later about this new Chinese RPG experience. "The game will deliver distinctive experiences and gameplay features that push our limits, while also bringing fresh ideas and necessary changes to address past flaws and regrets," said the developer in its press release.
