"Worst Event Ever": Pokémon GO's Eternatus Event Infuriates Fans

Pokémon GO’s recent Max Finale event, which was centered around the introduction of Gigantamax Eternatus in the game, came under heavy criticism following its conclusion. The popular mobile game developed by Niantic, now under Scopely’s domain, is constantly receiving updates. Most recently, the company allowed players to catch Eternatus in Pokémon GO via a special event.

This special event, called Max Finale, however, was heavily criticized by a portion of its players. As seen in user 00BeardedSaiyan’s response to an official post on X, this is the “worst event ever.The user calls it a “rip off and, like a few other players, cites that it’s a “money grab” because of how the special event was structured.

This wasn’t the only player who was unsatisfied with the game’s event, which was the conclusion of Pokémon GO’s Dark Skies event. X user _bluetjet_ also called it a cash grab and mentioned that Niantic should have offered players a progression path via research tasks rather than Max Battles, which can cost money.

For context, the Max Finale GO Pass, which contained the special encounter with Eternatus at level 60, required players to level up by facing Max Battles in Pokémon GO....
