007 First Light Early Reactions Include "Boring" And "Awful"

007 First Light has a lot to prove. Developed by Hitman studio IO Interactive, the team not only has to make the game stand out on its own, but also sate hardcore James Bond fans who have been following the series for decades. For now, it seems like the debut stream is not capturing everyone's attention.

The stream gave us our first real in-action look at First Light gameplay, complete with sneaking and espionage at the start, then an explosive gunfight on a runway. Many are not impressed with either section, with common complaints lodged regarding the framerate and the gameplay.

So far, reactions are incredibly mixed. "This is a game from 2020" one user said, with others going further back, stating that it looks like something from the PS2 or PS3 era. Most gameplay complaints were levied at the stealth sections, which were showcased at the start of the stream. "State of lag fest" was also commented upon, noting the game's shifting framerate and visual fidelity. "007 FPS" was a common refrain in the chat.
