Octopath Traveler 0 Producer Explains Differences Between Mobile Title and Console Upgrade

It’s not uncommon for certain titles to get key “upgrades” when they move from one platform to another, especially if it’s from a mobile platform to a console platform. When Octopath Traveler 0 was announced, it was clear to those who had played a certain Square Enix mobile game that it was an “upgraded version” of that title. The question then became, “How much of an upgrade?” In an interview with Famitsu, Producer Hiroto Suzuki explained the differences, including how they couldn’t simply do a straight-up transfer of the mobile title to a console, because that would not just be repetitive, it’d be overwhelming at times.

That’s why they took the “bones” of the mobile game spinoff and upgraded it, refined it, and added a lot to it:

That’s not to say that the entire story has been rewritten, as it wasn’t. But, according to the producer, about 30-40% of it is new, and that’s a sizeable chunk when you think about it.
