Helldivers 2 Dev Admits the Game is 'Starting to Break at the Seams'

Helldivers 2 Game Director Mikael Eriksson has claimed that the game is "starting to break at the seams" thanks to prioritization choices made during development. Eriksson's comments came during a recent Helldivers 2 Q&A, in which he answered many of fans' most prominent questions.

Despite flying out the gate to massive success in early 2024, the live-service elements of Helldivers 2 have been rocky to say the least. Developer Arrowhead Game Studios has focused on adding new content for players to enjoy, but that has come with a price. Helldivers 2 now has enormous performance problems for many players, which the developer claims may take many months to solve. This means that finding a balance between new content and fixing performance is becoming increasingly trickier for Arrowhead.

According to Game Director Mikael Eriksson in a YouTube Q&A, "there have been signs here all along... the calls are coming from inside of the house. Now we're paying the price a little bit for this. So that is why we're so focused right now on addressing this and rethinking a little bit about how we're developing the game in this live-service environment."
