The Witcher 3 "Photorealistic" Remake Is Technically Impressive, But Ultimately Soulless

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a landmark in gaming, but as time goes on, its visuals will naturally become dated compared to future games in the series like the upcoming Witcher 4. However, some players have taken it upon themselves to "improve" The Witcher 3's look instead, with some using mods to do so. One project stands out from some of the others, but not for wholly positive reasons.

There are tons of graphic improvement mods for The Witcher 3, including many that go into detailed elements of the game. Some introduce realistic wind and weather mechanics, while others seek to make NPCs simply look more natural in the world. One creator took a somewhat different approach, creating something that many fans of the now-iconic game might find divisive.

As you can see in the above video by creator Aillusory, one project imagines The Witcher 3 entirely recreated in AI, from Geralt to all the environments he visits. This footage only lasts a couple of minutes, but it paints a proposed "enhancement" of the game's original artstyle, trying to make it look as realistic or stylized as possible.
