At Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024, Netflix revealed Squid Game: Unleashed. The Squid Game television series debuted on Netflix in 2019 and became an international phenomenon, resulting in the upcoming second season, expected later this year. Alongside it is Squid Game: Unleashed, a new video game for the franchise that lets players compete in the eponymous games.
The Squid Game: Unleashed Gamescom trailer has been uploaded via the Netflix YouTube channel, revealing that it will be playable via the Netflix app on iOS and Android devices. There has not been a release date given, but the trailer claims the game is coming soon.
The gameplay clips provided appear to position Squid Game: Unleashed as something akin to Fall Guys, following the structure of the show's games in which players are incrementally eliminated from competition until one remains and is crowned the winner. Squid Game: Unleashed appears to boast not only direct adaptations of the series' now-famous games, but variations on them as well, in addition to completely new offerings.
Despite its success, Netflix officially sets the final season of the very popular Korean drama series, Squid Game, bound to be released in 2025.
