One of 2024's biggest titles, Helldivers 2, has dropped to "Mostly Negative" reviews on Steam following several recent updates that have disappointed the community. When it launched in February 2024, Arrowhead Game Studios' live-service co-op shooter was extremely highly praised by many - despite its rocky start on PC - for its community-driven objectives and satisfying gameplay, and broke records for Sony. However, in the months that have followed, there have been many controversies and poorly received updates that have resulted in a significant number of players leaving the game.
While Helldivers 2 still holds a "Mostly Positive" overall review score on Steam from nearly 665,000 players, its nearly 12,000 recent reviews are showing "Mostly Negative." Many of the reviews on the game's Steam page have criticized Arrowhead Game Studios for unnecessarily tinkering with various weapons, with LeoFinns stating that they're "really tired of the game breaking and being gutted every other patch" and Tolstoj just calling it "Nerf after Nerf after Nerf after Nerf after Nerf."
