The excitement surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6 is always growing but tech analysts want consumers to remember that the game probably won't run as smoothly as they'd like on even the most modern console. With Sony having just announced the PlayStation 5 Pro, many are hoping that the upgraded specs will make even the most demanding games look better than ever. While there's some debate on whether the improvement is even noticeable, the big question comes down to framerate, and it sounds like some fans will be disappointed.
Speaking to IGN, Digital Foundry editor Richard Leadbetter couched expectations regarding Grand Theft Auto 6, stating that even with the added power of the PS5 Pro, it's unlikely that the game will run at 60fps. Leadbetter says the problem comes down to the CPU, noting that the size of a GTA game can be especially taxing on a console, which is why most tend to aim for 30fps or lower at launch. Since the PS5 Pro uses the same CPU as the base PS5 "it would be extremely challenging to hit 60fps if the base PS5 version is targeting 30fps."
