Star Wars: Rogue Squadron is getting a fan remake in Unreal Engine 4, and so far it hasn't been DCMA'd by Disney! The website Dark Side of Gaming contacted the leader of the dev team, a YouTuber by the name of Thanaclara, who had this to say about the project:

It’s been in development for a couple years so far but we’re confident we can get everything that was in the original game finished in a reasonable amount of time. Certainly less than a couple more years I would hope. Things beyond that like multiplayer and coop and whatnot are another story but that’s one bridge we’ll cross when we get to it. We’re focused mostly on finishing the campaign for the time being.

There are quite a few screenshots at the article, along with information on new levels, new ships, and added content they plan on putting into the game. Rogue Squadron and its sequel are considered by many to be among the best games made in the Star Wars universe. You can stay up to date by visiting the project's Reddit page.
