While the 2002 licensed video game shares the same name as John Carpenter's 1982 film, The Thing isn't a video game adaptation or tie-in to the movie. It is considered a sequel to the movie, with the story revolving around Captain Blake, who is investigating the same frozen Antarctic outpost featured in The Thing. The Thing was a commercial success, selling over a million units worldwide. While the original game was developed by Computer Artworks, The Thing: Remastered is being redone by Nightdive Studios, who have a track record of producing high-quality enhanced remasters and ports of games like Shadow Man, Quake 2, and Doom 64, among many others.
