Since its disastrous initial release in 2016, No Man's Sky has continued to be one of the gaming industry's best redemption stories, as updates from developer Hello Games have continued to give the game new features and content. Even in 2024, 8 years after launch, No Man's Sky is still receiving big updates, including graphical improvements, system overhauls, and even entirely new content like fishing and new themed Expeditions.

As announced in a short trailer on Hello Games' YouTube channel, a new No Man's Sky update also implements cross-save, allowing players to share progress across different platforms by connecting their accounts to the No Man's Sky website. The included platforms are PlayStation, Steam, Xbox, Nintendo, and GOG, although Nintendo is currently listed as "coming soon." Notably, linking accounts will also enable Twitch Drops for No Man's Sky, allowing players to receive extra rewards for watching streams of the game.

As shown in the trailer and detailed on the website, No Man's Sky's cross-save feature will work by allowing players to upload their saves to cloud storage, which can hold a maximum of five saves per player.
