Stardew Valley is a game full of whimsy and surprises, so many fans were disappointed when developer ConcernedApe removed a silly glitch that let players turn a staircase into a pair of shorts. Before the update, placing a staircase into the "pants" slot on a character turned them into the "Mayor's Lucky Shorts," a pair of sporty purple shorts with no relation to staircases. When the update was introduced, it patched the glitch over, making it no longer possible to put on stairs like a pair of pants.

The fix has been in Stardew Valley since Update 1.6 first released earlier this year, but was recently rediscovered by console and mobile players when they finally got the update earlier this month. Reddit's Agile_Paper457 brought it to the attention of the community through a post titled succinctly, "NOOOOOO."

The patch notes state that the "ability to equip staircase as pants to obtain trimmed lucky purple shorts" has been fixed, much to the despair of many players. Something about the silly nature of the glitch appealed to many fans, leading to disappointment of its removal from the game.
