NobleGamer Deathloop Review

Sep 16, 2025
I recommend Deathloop to most FPS fans with a few warnings: You will be disappointed if you expect this to be an immersive sim like Dishonored or Prey, hardcore and casual gamers may be less likely to enjoy it because of how unique it is, and if you expect a meaningful ending, you may be disappointed. Here is what you should know before playing: ?The introduction tutorial of sorts introduces you to your character Colt, the time loop concept though limited to a tutorial location, meet Julianna, and then getting the code to the timeloop's tunnels used to access the 4 areas available on the island and start a more typical timeloop day. -Your progress through the tutorial does NOT save until you have the tunnel code and select an area to visit, which is the real start to a time loop. If you like to really explore the environment like I did at the beginning, this means you want to make sure to have like 30 mins-1 hour available to reach that auto save point, because... +The 1970s look, feel, and sounds are great, all with decent world building for an island. ?Progress will auto save when you enter an area, when you die with no reprise lives, or when you exit an area alive... ?There are 4 times of day, time only progresses when exiting an area, and each of the 4 areas changes somewhat based on the time of day. So not everything or everyone is available at a location at every time of day. +Clues will indicate what time of day, what area things are available in, and sometimes have a visual waypoint you can easily enable or disable anytime. +Player abilities are granted by things called Slabs. The first one called Reprise given by the tutorial area grants 2 extra lives, so dying either 3 times with the slab or dying once with the slab disabled (somewhat rare) will restart the time loop. ?When you die or survive an entire day, you restart at the beginning of the day, Colt remembers all the clues & info you learn by reading/listening/finding things, and Colt only keeps what things were "infused". ?If you exit an area at anytime, then the time of day will progress, and you will be auto saved. Loadout can be updated, you can use Residium as a currency to infuse items to keep them after the timeloop restarts, or sacrifice items to get more Residium. +Residium does not carry over when restarting the day for any reason. +If you are at the beginning of the day or between areas, I believe any changes to loadout MIGHT be auto saved if you quit before picking an area to visit. Test at your own risk. +The dialogue is great, especially between your character and Julianna.
